Found in The State 07 April 1974: Mrs. Dorothy H. Phifer, 52, of 1100 Brentwood Drive, wife of T. M. Phifer died Saturday in Richland Memorial hospital after a short illness. She was born in Asheboro, N.C., a daughter of the late A. R. Hix and Jessie Asbury Hix. She taught Bible in the public schools of Concord and Salisbury, N. C. and had been a member of the church staff at Dilworth Methodist Church in Charlotte. Surviving are her husband of Columbia; a son, Thomas M. Phifer III of Columbia; a daughter Jane A. Phifer of Columbia; her mother of Asheboro, N.C.; and two brothers, A. R. Hix,Jr. of Asheboro, N.c. and Frank Hix of Burlington, N.C.
