John Lusby Pitts was an appointed preacher for Winchester and Bath (1796-1797), Rockingham (1797-99), and Fairfax (1799-1800). Born Feb. 23, 1772, in Anne Arundel Co., Md., he was admitted to Baltimore MEC on trial in 1796, ordained a Deacon in full connection in 1797, and ordained an Elder in 1800. He preached under MEC appointment 16 years (1796-1803, 1804-1813), superannuated (retired) in 1813, and died Feb. 7, 1821 (age 48). His other appointments were Stafford, Baltimore Circuit, Fredericksburg, Located (1803-84), Fredericktown, Alexandria, Baltimore City, Alexandria, Annapolis, Baltimore City, and Fredericktown-Frederick Circuit (supply). He is buried with his wife, Elizabeth Hall Pitts (1780-1830), along with several of their children, at Woods-Hall Cemetery, New Market, Md.
