Funeral services for Henry C. Yohe, 94, longtime Bucyrus farmer were held on Monday, April 27 at 2 P.M. at the Bucyrus Lutheran Church. Rev. Oliver Dewald officiated and interment was in the Hettinger Cemetery. Special music was provided by the congregation, with Dorren Jeffers, accompanist. Casketbearers included Roger, Wipf, Bill Waswick, Wayne Markegaard, Swen E. Swenson, Jim Goplin, Curtis Torgerson, Oscar Opheim, Lester Nelson, Gerhard Christianson, Lloyd Schlichting and Ardmore Thompson.

The funeral arrangements were under the guidance of the Walby Funeral Chapel of Evanson Jensen Funeral Home, Hettinger.

Henry C. Yohe was born on June 5, 1897 at LaCrescent, Minn. to Louis C. and Lizzie (Elsheimer) Yohe. He attended school there and in 1910 accomapnied his parents to afarm the Yohe's had purchased 4 miles northwest of Bucyrus. There he grew to youngmanhood and began working with his mother in the operation of the farm while his father continued working in Minnesota for the railroad. He worked at any other work he could find in Nevada and the Black Hills of South Dakota. These jobs he held to help with the farming expenses adn would return to the home place during the spring planting season and during harvest. As his father worked for the railroad, he could take his trips with a free pass, travelling to Minnesota and his other job locations.

On Nov. 8, 1930 he was married to Luella Olson at Moorhead, Minn. They lived in the Bucyrus area and later assumed the operation of the family farm and raised their family there. He retired in 1977, at the age of 80, but continued to live on the farm. Mrs. Yohe passed away in Feb. of 1980 and he spent several winters in Arizona. He had resided at Hillcrest Care Center the past 2 1/2 years. He passed away Thursday evening, April 23rd at West River Regional Medical Center at the age of 94 years, 10 months and 18 days.

He will be remembered for serving on his school and township boards and service as an Adams County Commissioner. He also served on the Hettinger Park Board and was a member of the I. O. O. F., the Farmers, Union and Bucyrus Lutheran Church. He was an avid baseball supporter and played baseball in the area for many years, proudly wearing his catcher's brest pad which read, "It's great to steal second, try it." He also umpired and coached girls softball and little league baseball. He loved athletic events and was time keeper and score keeper for the Bucyrus School for many years.

Grateful for havin gshared his life are 1 son and daughter in law; Robert and Marjorie Yohe of Bucyrus and their daughter; Brenda Waswick, 3 daughters and sons in law; Mary and Roy Rowley of Hettinger and her children, Greg, Greg and Mary Jo Allen, Betty and Jim Stover of Bucyrus and their childr3en; Arthur and Anthony Stover and Luella Wipf, Shirley and Bruce Wood of Mableton, GA and their children; Lois Ann Bafas and Bruce Wood, Jr. Also surviving are 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded by his wife, an infant son, an infant daughter and 7 brothers and sisters.
