Mr. Jacques Futrelle Jr., 105 Ayrlee Ave., Leesburg, Va., died Sunday evening. July 8, at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a length illness. He was the husband of Josephine Collins Futrelle.

He was born in New York City, Nov. 20, 1898, a son of the late Jacques and May Peel Futrelle. Mr. Futrelle's father was an author of mystery stories and was one of the many passengers who perished in the sinking of the Titanicon April 15, 1912.

Prior to his retirement in 1964, Mr.s Futrelle had been employed for 30 years with The Washington Star as night editor and travel editor. He was a member of the Class of 1921 of the U.S. Naval Academy and served during World War II in psychological warfare, holding the rank of lieutenant commander.

Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, Jacques Futrelle III, Leesburg, Va., and Robert P. Futrelle, Urbana, Ill.' one stepson Stanley W. Boyd, Frederick; one sister, Mrs. Virginia Raymond, Los Angeles, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Smith, Fadeley, Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, July 12.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, from the funeral home. The Rev. W. Phillip Fogarty, assistant pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Entombment will be in the Birch Lawn Garden Mausoleum in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
