Leetonia, Ohio - Agnes Gatian Saunders, age 82, of 460 Somer Street, died at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday at Forum Health Northside Medical Center, Youngstown.

Mrs. Saunders was born November 26, 1921 in Morgantown, WV, a daughter of the late George and Geneva Gatian and had lived here since 1978, coming from Beaver County, PA.

She had been a sales clerk at J.C. Penney Company in Baden, PA for several years. She had also worked at the former Pie Factory in Leetonia for 15 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Leetonia Fire Department Auxiliary, and the Italian American Club, all of Leetonia.

Her husband, Martin Luther Saunders, whom she married January 20, 1941 died June 17, 1988.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William (Joann) McPherson of Clinton, PA and Mrs. John (Sara Jane) Salasky of Fayetteville, PA; a son, William L. "Buddy" Saunders of Leetonia; two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth "Geraldine" Nicholson of Aliquippa, PA and Mrs. Florine Wolf, of Morgantown, WV; a brother, Donald (Mary Ellen) Gatian of Aliquippa, PA; two sister in laws, Doris Gatian of Paden City, WV and Dorothy Gatian of Monaca, PA; 15 grandchildren, Mrs. Blaine (Terry Lynn) Chamberlain, Billy McPherson, Jr., Paul McPherson, Ken McPherson, Mrs. Kurt (Lorrie) Kyser, Mrs. Pete (Judy) Bateman, Billy Jo Thornburg, Kim Saunders, Mrs. Jeff (Darla) Sirk, Beverly Salasky, and Johnny Salasky; 12 great grandchildren, Justin and Cameron Chamberlain, Joshua and Kenny McPherson, Jordan and Erica Kyser, Lynsee and Bret Ahearn, Johnathon and Robert Sirk, Angel Saunders, and William McPherson III.

Three brothers, Lawrence (Bud) Gatian, Carl (Slug) Gatian, and Donavan (Lefty) Gatian are also deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester, PA. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.

Memorial may be directed to the Leetonia Fire Department.
