Gilbert Eugene Rothrock was the eldest of two known children of Augustus Henry Rothrock (1857-1937) and Rosa (went by Rose) A. Olszewski Rothrock (1849-1898), who married 02 May 1878 at Broadbay Township, Forsyth County, North Carolina. After Rose died, Augustus remarried to Temperance Louise Bodenhamer (1860-1929) on 07 Jan 1899 at Forsyth County, North Carolina, but had no additional children.
Gilbert married Clemmie Elizabeth Craver (1890-1973) on 08 Jun 1910 at Forsyth County, North Carolina. Gilbert and Clemmie were the parents of five known children, namely:
1. Nora Elizabeth Rothrock Thomas (1911-1999)
2. Rosa Mozelle Rothrock Jones (1914-2010)
3. Sarah Pauline Rothrock Clowers (1916-2002)
4. Evelyn Berniece Rothrock Doty (1922-2006)
