David applied for an invalid's pension July 25th, 1890 and was awarded $6.00 per month, for partial disability, commencing April 3rd, 1897. On July 3rd, 1900, he married his second wife, Hannah R. Gibson, in Benton County, Arkansas. He died Oct. 13th, 1902 at Siloam Springs, Arkansas. of a paralytic stroke, his widow applying for a pension on Dec. 11th, 1902. The pension was granted at $8.00 per month and then increased to $30.00 per month, the last payment being made on April 4th, 1923. The Anderson graves are marked by a monument in a cemetery in or near Siloam Springs, Ark.
The Adjutant General's Office of the U. S. War Department in Washington, at the time of his enlistment in the army, described him as follows: Age 24 years; place of birth, Canada; occupation, farmer; eyes, hazel; hair, black; complexion, dark; height, 5 ft. 10 inches.
