LaCROSSE — Marie Schenkel, 84,
died Monday, Jan. 8,1996, at the Rush
County Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 10,1911, in Otis to
Henry H. and Mary (Schlegel) Brack.
She received her education in Otis.
She married Fred Schenkel on June
8, 1933, in Otis. From the late 1940s
through the 1960s, she worked at various
motels in Great Bend as a housekeeper,
moving to LaCrosse in 1970.
She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Lutheran
Church, LaCrosse.
Survivors include her husband,
LaCrosse; two stepdaughters, Eileen
Richardson, Scotland, Ark., and
Leona Hayden, Hutchinson; three half
brothers, Harry Brack and Marvin
Brack, Otis, and Freddie Brack,
Emporia; a half sister, Vera Brack,
Branson, Mo.; three stepgrandchildren;
and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six
brothers and five sisters.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at
the Janousek Funeral Home, La-
Crosse, with the Rev. Evelyn Phillips
officiating; burial in the LaCrosse City
Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions
to the organization of the
donor's choice.
