Lake of the Ozarks Mo. Sylvia Elizabeth Pierce Brinkman (Slone) February 27, 1913-September 3, 2012.

Sylvia Brinkman was born in rural Eugen Mo. on February 17, 1913, the ninth child of thirteen born to William Daniel and Sarah Elizabeth Roberts Pierce all of whom preceded her in death-Myrtle Hattie, Lester Daniel, Amy Lorine, Thomas William,Mabel Antheline, Herbert Perry, Minerva Marie, Ruby Luann, Otto Rubin, Edna Maxine, Hldred Evelyn, Stanley Arnold, and Edna Maxine.

She grew up enjoying great freedoms and the companionship of siblings and neighbors, and loved remembering and telling of the many firsts in her life. Those included airplanes, automobiles, telephones, and continued through the technological advances in her later years.

On January 31, 1934 she married Oscar Brinkman in Quincy Illinois, Oscar was Union Electric's Maintenance Superintendent at Bagnell Dam. They were married over fifty years living and raising four daughters atLake Ozark; Dorothy An (D'Ann) Betty Suzanne (Sue) Naomi Ruth (Skeeter) and Laura Lee (Lolly) They for many years owned and operated a covered fishing dock on the Lake North Shore from their property in what became Lakeside; Sylvia also collected and dealt in antiques, which remained a personal love interest.

Following the death o Oscar, when Sylvia became unable to live alone, she lived at the Lee House in Eldon, for a short time at the Miller County Rehabilitation facility in Tuscumbia, and then later returned to the Lee House where she was well cared for and quite happy. At the Lee House in 2002, she met and exchanged vows with Loyd Slone. The spent several years togeter until his passing in 2007.

She was entered in the Missouri Health Carre Association Beauty Contest and subsequently won the District and State wide competition, becoming Missouri's Nursing Home Queen in 2007.

Sylvia was a member of the Disciles of Christ faith, a founding member of the Lake of the Ozark Christian Church, and continued faithful service so long as she was able.

She is survived by her four daughtersD'Ann Vaugh, LakeOzark, Betty Suzanne Marose, Lynchburg VA. Naomi Ruth Payne, Lake Ozark,and Lolly Sandfort, Gulf Breeze FL. eight grandchildren,Greg Vaughn, Valerie Howser, Michael Neal, Debra (Debbie) Kania, Lolly Cottrell, Kirk Payne, Scott Sandfort, and Leslie Folland. Two grandchildren, Sylvia Gay (Sibble) and Shelly Ann Vaughn preceded her in death. Sheleaves sixteen great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

All who knew her wil miss her warm smile, happy greetin, and wonderfully positive attitude.

Services will be Phillips Funeral Home on Sunday September 9, Visitaton from 2-4p.m. and Funeral service at 4p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Lake of the Ozark Christian Church, Private family interment at a later date at Greenmore Memorial Gardens in Barnett, Mo.
