Jack Lew Boyd 77, of Muscatine passed away on Monday September 3, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport.

Funeral service will be held at 10;30 a.m. Friday September 7, 2012 at the Geo M. Wittich Lewis Home for Funeral and cremation Services.

Pastor David McIntosh of Hillcrest Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery with full military rites provided by the cobined units of the American Legion Post #27 and the V.F.W. Post #1565.

Visitation will be from 4-7p.m. on Thursday September 6, 2012 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Jack's name.

Jackie was born on June 12, 1935 in Iowa City, the son of Jesse R. and Lucille E. Sparrowgrove Boyd. On July 11, 1954 Jack was united in marriage to Frances L. Reed at the Fort George Wright Air Force Base in Spokane Washington.

Jack served with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from Septeber 1953-July 1957, attaining the rank of Buck Sargent.

Jack worked for HON Industry at the Geneva Plant for 21years and then Muscatine Transportaton.

Jack was a member of the Local 551 Musician Union played guitsr for the Mississippi Ramblers with his sons, the J.L.' Generation Gap and many other loca bands , coached Little League Baseball and was a Cub Scout co-leader. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting model semi-trucks and going to stock car races, but most of all. Jack loved to spend time with his family.

Jack will be deeply missed by his wife, Frances Boyd of Muscatine, his children, Steve C. Boyd and wife Debbie of Muscatine, Tonya L. Hayes of Muscatine, Kevin "Jake" E. Boyd nd wife Diane of Clinton. Penny L. Conley of Muscatine, and Sondra "Sunni" R. Boyd of Muscatine. 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren,one brother, William "Bill Boyd of Fairbault Minn. and tw sisters, Roxie Nichols and husband Robert of Fruitland and Muchelle "Mikey" Reed ad huasband Clayton of Muscatine.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson, Ryan Bierman.
