TRAGEDY STRIKES AREA HOME TWICE
ECKHART HUSBAND AND WIFE DIE THREE DAYS APART
Tragedy struck twice last week at the home of 78 year old Charles Lancaster, Eckhart, who was followed in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary A. Lancaster, 76, yesterday.
Mrs. Lancaster died a 10:25 a.m. at her home after a lingering illness. Her husband a former coal miner, died Wednesday in Miners Hospital, Frostburg.
Services scheduled for Mr. Lancaster were postponed until today at 2 p.m. when joint services will be held at Hafer Funeral Home, Frostburg, Rev. George Mead, pastor of Eckhart Methodist Church will officiate.
The couple is survived by two sons, Hilary and Earl Lancaster, Eckhart, five daughters, Mrs. Bertha Bowser and Mrs. Elizabeth Hemphill, both of Hagerstown, Mrs. Ethel Lloyd, Morgantown, W.Va., Mrs. Hazel Valentine, Cumberland, and Mrs. Maletta Yates, Frostburg, 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lancaster also leaves four sisters, Mrs. Lucy Rizer, Zilhman, Mrs. Jane Wright, Mrs. Irene Wright, both of Eckhart, and Mrs. Margaret Vogel, Baltimore.
Wolfrod Lancaster, Frostburg, and Mrs. Rosa Mae Snyder, Eckhart are surviving brother and sister of Mr. Lancaster.
