Daniel Lee (Skip) Shippy, 81, of Raytown, MO, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Research Medical Center. Services will be 12 noon, Wednesday, June 21 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons, Floral Hills Chapel. Burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Parkinson's Foundation or Animal Haven. Daniel was born January 14, 1925 in Kingsville, MO to Dan and Nora (Plattner) Shippy and lived in the area most of his life. He retired in 1987 from KPL Gas after 40 years of service. He received special recognition from Kansas City, MO Mayor Berkley and the KCMO Fire Department for outstanding service to them while a KPL employee. He was an Army veteran of W.W. II, serving from April of 1943 to May of 1946. He served in the Rhineland and Ardennes battles in the European Theater with Battery C 549th Anti Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Division. He received the EAME Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and the American Theater Ribbon. He received his Honorable Discharge after being injured in the War. Daniel was a member of the Raytown Masonic Lodge #391 AF&AM, the Low 12 and the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 58 Years, Pauline E. Shippy in 2005, a brother Kenneth Shippy, sisters Wanda Ditton, Edith Martin, Bessie Shippy and Ethal Smead. Survivors include daughters: Brenda K. Shippy of the home, Linda D. Driscoll and husband Barry of Overland Park, KS, son Daniel R. Shippy of Liberty, MO, sisters, Wilma Ballard and Lola Bedsaul, a sister-in-law, Kate Shippy. Grandchildren, Eric John Driscoll (Kathy), Michael Lee Driscoll (Diana), Daniel R. Shippy, Gregory N. Shippy, Stacy Kelly, a great grandson, many nieces, nephews and friends. Skip never had a bad word to say about anyone and would do anything for anybody. His family greatly appreciates the loving care given him by Tameka Williamson. (Arrangements; D.W.
