LaFargeville -- Edson J. House, 80, of Main Street, was pronounced dead on arrival Sunday at 3:15 p.m. at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown. He had been in failing health for the last year.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Frederick Brothers Funeral Home, LaFargeville, with Rev. Durward Winner, Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, LaFargeville.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Rosemary) Wills, LaFargeville, and Mrs. Clifford (Mary Elizabeth) Carr, Watertown, Route 4; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Mr. House was born March 6, 1897, one of five children to the late Charles and Mary Larabee House [sic - obits of his siblings, and his own marriage license, all give his mother's surname as SCHULTZ, not LARABEE - ds], on his grandfather's farm at Alexandria Bay Center [sic - Alexandria Center - ds]. He attended local schools. He married Lottie Hall. She died 17 Jul 1968.

He was a farmer until the late 1930s, when he moved to LaFargeville.
