Alma Enterprise, June 28, 1940, page 1:
The sad news came Saturday of the death of Edward Sharai, aged 67, at his home 127 Fillmore in Topeka. He was born July 31, 1873, at Paxico, and had lived in Topeka for the last 27 years. For the last 11 years he had been the chief engineer of the Hotel Jayhawk. He was a member of the First baptist church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Sharrai, three sons, Harvey and Elmer of Topeka; Nyle H. Sharrai of Arcadia, Cal.; three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Clements of Maple Hill, Mrs. Agnes Bushacher and Mrs. Mary Winkler, both of Topeka, and three grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wall-Diffenderfer mortuary with burial in Memorial Park cemetery.

For nearly a half century we have known and valued Ed Sharrai as a good friend. He was square and honest, always a good reliable worker, and his going away will bring sorrow to a wide circle of old family friends.
