He was born Feb. 28, 1881, at New Haven. A retired farmer, Mr. Caldwell had lived the past 20 years in Forest City.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Viola Shelton, Forest City; Mrs. Leta Mae Teigemeir, New Port, Ky.; Mrs. Dorothy Offard, Los Angeles, Calif.; Miss Sarah Caldwell, St. Louis; Mrs. Rosemarie Gomez, San Francisco, Calif.; and Mrs. Eloise Jean Lewis, Annapolis, Md. Also surviving are three sons, Thomas Caldwell, Wells Fargo, N.D.; Samuel Caldwell, Wichita, Kans.; and Richard Caldwell, Granite City, Ill.; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons."
