Dorven Alfred Kier was the 9th of 10 children of Matilda Belle "Meservey" Kier and James Harvey Kier. His parents moved between Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma several times. He was born while his mom, Matilda Belle Kier, was visiting her daughter Elizabeth Kier Gilmore in Dade County, MO who was also pregnant (for her 1st time) and both Elizabeth and her mom gave birth within 2 weeks of each other there in Dade County, Missouri. Therefore, Dorven's nephew Claude Alfred Gilmore is 2 weeks older than his uncle Dorven Alfred Kier. Dorven stayed with his parents in Blackwell, OK until the 1910's. He married Esther Caroline Brown on 23 Dec 1913 and they had one daughter in 1914, Myra Esther Kier. Dorven stayed with his family in Blackwell, OK until 1917 when he signed up to serve in WWI. After the war, he lived in Stephens County, TX for a while in the 1920s doing oil-field related work. By 1930, Dorven with wife and daughter moved back to Blackwell and then after 1936 they moved to Eugene, Oregon where Dorven died in 1957.
