Josephine Katherine Theresa Leinenkugel was born 6 Dec 1890 at 8:45 a.m. on a Saturday morning in Chippewa Falls, Chippewa Co, Wis to Mathias Jacob Leinenkugel and Kathryn M Watzl. (She was named after her mother Kathryn and aunt Theresa Trumer Schmitt and Josepine after her paternal grandmother Josephine Imhoff Leinenkugel.)

Dr. S. S. Riddell delivered her and her birth was recorded in Vol F page 290 at the Chippewa Co Court House in Chippewa Falls. Josepine was the first child of Mathias and Kathryn.

She was born into the brewery Leinenkugel family and her father was listed as a brewer of Chippewa Falls. Her mother's name on the birth was listed as Catherine instead of the way her mom spelled it, Kathryn.

Josephine married 16 April 1912 on her father's 46th birthday in Chippewa Falls, Chippewa, WI at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church to John Joseph Black. They applied for a license on 9 April 1912 #240.

After the death on Christmas night, 25 Dec 1932 of John, Josephine married second on 15 Feb 1941 to widower Thomas Joseph Gibbons. Thomas was born in St. Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota 22 March 1891 and lost his wife in 1940.

Josephine and Thomas lived in St. Paul, Minnesota where he was a sheriff at the time of their marriage.

Josephine died in St. Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota at age 84 on 1 August 1975. She was buried by her first husband and I believe Thomas by his first wife in MN.

Josephine and John Black had three children: John Mathias Black, Catherine Irene Black, and Joann Black.
