Ruth was born and raised in Bell County where she has lived her entire life. She was the daughter of Leonard and Callie (Parker) Reaves. She graduated from Killeen High School and attended Temple Jr. College where she received her LVN license. She worked as an LVN for Darnell Army Hospital and Scott and White Memorial Hospital. She was a long time member of Killeen 1st Baptist Church and later moved her membership to LifeWayFellowship in Killeen.
She was preceded in death by husband, Lee Roy Chappell in 1973; parents, Leonard and Callie Reaves; brother, Weldon Scott Reaves She is survived by a daughter, Linda Chappell Dixon and husband Wes of Huntsville, Tex; son, Ronnie Chappell and wife Glenda of Belton; sister, Joyce Williams and husband Dave of Killeen; 3 grandsons, Charlie Chappell and wife Jody, Tim Dixon and wife Karen, Brad Dixon and wife Shelly; sister-in-law, Frances Reaves of Elgin. Also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
