William A. "Bill" Ashley, 81, Henderson, died at 8:25 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Redbanks nursing home.

He was of the Baptist faith and a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin Ashley and Elizabeth Griffin Ashley; two sons, Millard Franklin and Benjamin Jeffery Ashley.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Marjorie Lee Sandefur Ashley; three daughters, Rebecca Clark, Elizabeth Embry and Kara Lou Ashley, all of Henderson; one son, William Lee Ashley of Henderson; one sister, Sarah Elizabeth Williams of Henderson; one brother, Barry Franklin Ashley of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Linhart will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery at a later date.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.
