Neighbors and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Holk came with well-filled baskets Sunday evening and completely surprised Mrs. Holk, it being her birthday anniversary. The evening was spent playing cards and visiting. After a bounteous lunch and a good time, everybody went home, wishing Mrs. Holk many returns of the days.
Those present at this happy time were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baacke and family, Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Glebe and family, John Krug, John Portsche, Jack Smith, Louise Krug, Paul Renken, Mr. and Mrs. Warnke, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Renner and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Renken, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Renken and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. R. Renken and two daughters and Grandma Renken, W. Holk and children, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Holk and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Steuer and son, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Heitman, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Heitman and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Schernikau and daughters, Mrs. Herman Kahle and children, Mr. and Mrs. William Dittmer and children, Mrs. Emma Dittmer, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Reiss. Mrs. Holk received some beautiful gifts

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. today (Thursday) for Mrs. Henry Holk, 76, who died here Sunday evening.
Mrs. Holk was born Theresa Amanda Claussen, daughter of Claus and Cecelia Claussen, on November 16, 1875 in Holstein, Germany. In 1889 at the age of 12 years, she came to America with her parents. The family settled on a farm near Davey.
On November 19, 1893 she was united in marriage with Henry N. Holk by the Rev. Johannes Krohnke in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lincoln. The couple made their home on a farm four miles east of Crete. The union was blessed with one son. In 1910 the Holks took into their home, Ed Reiss, 12, and raised him also.
Survivors include her husband, Henry; one son, Otto of Crete; a brother, Otto Clausen of Havelock, and two granddaughters.
The funeral will be held from the Bethlehem Lutheran Church with the Rev. O.R. Heinitz officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
