ANGEL ARMENDARIZ
CARLSBAD--A funeral service for Angel Armendariz, 96, of South Eighth Street, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski officiating. Interment will follow at Loving Cemetery.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. today at San Jose Catholic Church.
Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Angel M. Armendariz died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest Inc.-North Canal Unit. He was born in San Antonio, Chihuahua, Mexico, on Thursday, March 1, 1906, to Luz and Juanita Montes Armendariz. He had been a resident of New Mexico since he was 9 years old. On Sept. 12, 1927, he married Vigilia Apodaca in Eddy County. In September 2002, they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Armendariz worked as a farm laborer and also for U.S. Refinery and U.S. Borax. Following his retirement, he worked as a maintenance worker at San Jose Catholic Church, where he was a member. He was also well known in the area as a musician.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Erminio and Henry Armendariz.
He is survived by wife, Vigilia M. Armendariz, of the family home; sons, Ernersto Armendariz of Carlsbad, Eloy Armendariz and wife, Mary Lou, of Albuquerque, and Ervey Armendariz and wife, Carmen, and Ernie Armendariz and wife, Pam, of Albuquerque; daughter, Elodia Gonzalez and husband, Ramon, of Loving; brother Delores Armendariz of El Paso; and 25 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
