Lucille A. Brooks, 91, of Marshall, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating.

The burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall.

Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born September 2, 1919, in Saline County, near the Marshall Junction, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas McDonald and Virginia Sidwell McDonald.

On July 17, 1938, in Marshall, she married Wilbur Joseph Brooks Sr. who preceded her in death on March 14, 1995.

She had lived in Marshall most of her life and was a homemaker.

She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Nora McDonell; one daughter, Linda Darlene McMelen; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include four sons, Wilbur Joe (Bonnie) Brooks Jr. of rural Marshall, Danny 'Butch' Brooks of rural Marshall, Ronnie (Joyce) Brooks of Beeville, TX, and James 'Chinaman' Brooks and his companion, Judy Brown, of rural Marshall; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
