Mrs. Ida Florence Gordon Battley, 77, widow of Alfred M. Battley, died at her
residence, 5912 Walnut Street, Greenwood Park, Saturday at 1:30 p.m. She is
survived by four daughters, Mrs. John M. Parker and Mrs. E. H. Whitehurst, of
Norfolk; Mrs. W. O. Handy of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. W. H. Clegg, Sr., of
Durham, N.C.; a brother, W. W. Gordon, of Norfolk; nine grandchildren, six
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Battley was a lifelong resident of Norfolk and was a member of the
Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home today at 3
p.m. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
