Theron Bryce "Massey" Massengill, age 72, of Surf City, formerly of Johnston County, died July 18, 2012. Born in Johnston County on February 10, 1940, he was the son of the late Hubert and Mabel Pilkington Massengill. Mr. Massengill was also preceded in death by two step-children, Rudolph Wilson and Diane Wilson; and two step-grandchildren, Chad Wilson and Nick Patrick. He was a member of the Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church, Fellowship Masonic Lodge in Smithfield and the Pine Level Lion's Club. He was employed at Perry Brothers Tire Service in Smithfield for over thirty years.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with Dr. Dannie Hayes officiating. Burial will be in the Pilkington Cemetery near Pine Level. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 3 PM.
Surviving are his wife, Marie Massengill; his daughter, Tammy Durham (Richard) of Kenly; step-daughters, Earline Sanderson(James) of Lumberton, Sue Oldenburg (Jim) of Kinston; step-sons, Harold Wilson (Connie) of Council, Sidney Wilson (Delores) of Surf City; sisters, Betty McKeel of Goldsboro and Doris Summerlin of Newport News, VA; granddaughter, Kayla Durham; step-grandchildren, Jimmy Sanderson (Margaret), Pam Romano, Travis Oldenburg (Cassie), Shane Wilkins (Charity), Jamie Wilson (Jackie) and Tabitha Patrick (Zane); ten step great grandchildren and two step great great grandchildren.
