James J. McCarthy, 67, of Bay St. Louis, Miss. and formerly of Syracuse, died Friday at Hancock Medical Center in Bay St. Louis.
Mr. McCarthy was a native of Syracuse. He was a logistics engineer.
Mr. McCarthy was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, Bay St. Louis. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1522, American Legion Post 139, the St. Vincent DePaul Society and a former member of Our Lady of the Gulf School Board. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Coast Guard.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; a son, Mark of Danville, Calif.; two daughters, Anne McCarthy Fine of Amarillo, Texas, and Linda McCarthy of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, Donald of Syracuse and Edward of Berwyn, Pa.; a sister, Betty Anne McCarthy Ryan of East Syracuse; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Our Lady of the Gulf Church. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
Calling hours are 10 to 11 a.m. today in Our Lady of the Gulf Church.
Contributions may be made to the James McCarthy Memorial Fund, St. Vincent DePaul Society, c/o Our Lady of the Gulf Church.
The Edmond Fahey Funeral Home, Bay St. Louis, has charge of arrangements.
