Ebenezer Cady was born in Lyme, Connecticut on 20 Jan 1743. He married Chloe Beebe, daughter of John and Ruth (Pratt) Beebe. Their children were:

Prudence Cady, married Stephen Valentine.
Chloe Cady, married Amos Smith.
Susan Cady, married Winthrop Root.
Ebenezer Cady, Jr., married Anna Babcock.
Elizabeth Cady, married William Morris.
Arnold Cady, married Sally _____.

From "Descendants of Nicholas Cady of Watertown, Mass. 1645-1910" by O. P. Allen, page 91:
"He was the first of the Cadys to settle in Columbia Co. He went to Chatham as a servant of his brother-in-law, Daniel Lovejoy, in 1762. When the militia was organized for the defense of the country he was made Captain of the 3d Co. of the 17th Albany Regt., and served with credit to himself under Gen. Van Rensselaer during the war, and was at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. His widow received a pension for years. She was a woman of spirit and retained her faculties remarkably, making a speech in her 91st year in 1840 favoring the election of Harrison for president."
