1929 - 2012
Lucy Joan Wheelwright Rasmussen Boots passed into the arms of our Heavenly Father August 31, 2012. She was born January 31, 1929, in Ogden, Utah, to Dr. Frank B. and Leah Wheelwright.
Her parents moved to Boulder City, Nevada, during the building of Hoover Dam. She married Dean H. Rasmussen in Utah County where they raised their seven children and spent 50 years together. They retired to LaVerkin to enjoy the sunshine and be with children. Our mother's love of family has carried through to all of us she leaves behind.
Mom lived an active life with a sweet spirit and unconditional love. She was on the Board of Directors for the Hurricane Senior Center and was a volunteer for many years. She was a Daughter of Utah Pioneers. She worked as a foster grandparent at LaVerkin Elementary. She volunteered as a Senior Companion.
In 2009, she met and married her sweetheart, Jess Boots Jr. They made their home in Virgin, Utah. They spent nearly four years traveling, camping, playing bingo, and putting a lifetime of love into everyday.
She leaves behind her husband Jess; daughters: JoDeen Steedman (Guy), Cindy Rasmussen, Becky Brooke (Brady); sons: Garth Rasmussen, Bret Rasmussen, and Michael Boots (Kelly); grandchildren: Jaime, Jason, Jared, Aaron, Jeni, Lonnie, and April Rasmussen, Brad Brooke, Krystal Brooke Ashby, Boyd Brooke, Tami Brooke, Deana Rasmussen, Kelly Blackhurst, Jeremy and Nicole Rasmussen, Tiffany Heller, Brittany Cannon, and Colby Johnson; and 32 great-grandchildren.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Graveside services will be held September 6, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at the Virgin Pioneer Memorial Cemetery.
