Ella King was the daughter of Bell King and I have found no record of her father's name. She married James Allen Kirk Jr. in McNairy county on 30 March 1902. They had three children fairly quickly. Ivy V.Kirk a daughter born in 1904, James Alma Kirk a son born in 1905 (they called him Almer), and Ida Serene Kirk a daughter born in 1908.

So by the 1910 Census Ella was married with three children. In 1914 she had alot of changes hit her life she found out she was pregnant with her fourth child but she also was diagnosed with Tuberculosis. I am amazed to say the fourth child was born a healthy male. They named him Allen Kinnie Kirk. After his birth though the Tuberculosis settled in her bowels and led to her death in 1915 only 5 months after she gave birth to Kinnie. No one else in the house hold caught the disease and all of them lived fairly long lives. That to me is remarkable. I am so grateful for the life of Ella even though she died at a fairly young age. She had wonderful children that minded their father well. They all managed to carry extra responsibilities and carried on as she had taught them to do when she was alive.

Her husband James Allen Kirk Jr. is buried at White Oak Cemetery in Ramer,McNairy,Tn with his second wife Geogie Meeks that he married when Kinnie was 14 yrs old. Also buried at White Oak is Ella's oldest son James Almer Kirk and Almer's wife Alma Irene Kirk. Ida is buried at Eureka Cemetery under the name Ida S Byrd with her husband Thomas Dewey Byrd. Also buried there are two of Ella's grandson's Franklin Dewey Byrd and Jim William Byrd. Allen Kinnie Kirk and his wife Goldie Nixon-Kirk are buried at Reaves Cemetery where many of her family members are buried.Kinnie died in 1986 and Goldie did not die until 2012. Ivy V. Kirk whose name did not change because he too was a Kirk. Is buried at Memphis Funeral Home in Bartlett, Shelby,TN with her husband Marvin R. Kirk.
