She was born in Neenah, Wisconsin, to the late Ladimer and Florence (Lepla) Hrudka. She married James A. Abbott of Elkhart, Indiana in 1946. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin and taught high school biology and English in Stoughton, Wisconsin. She also wrote a column for the Stoughton newspaper. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and an active member of the Methodist Church. Throughout her life she wrote book reviews and led book clubs. She enjoyed reading and gave presentations about Native American culture for grade school children for many years. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking and baking.
She was preceded in death by her husband James; and only brother, Quinn L. Hrudka.
She is survived by her sons, Rev. James Abbott and wife, Dr. Louise Abbott, of Bryan, Texas, and Charles Abbott and wife, Sheryl Abbott, of Brooksings, South Dakota; daughter, Margo Good and husband, Charles, of Kenosha, Wisconsin; grandchildren Connor, Carter, and Kathryn, of Brookings, South Dakota.
