YOUNG MOTHER IS TAKEN BY DEATH
Mrs. Bert Swanson passes away after a long illness.
Mrs. Bert Swanson, 31, passed away peacefully from the scenes of earth to those of eternity Monday, March 23, 1931, at her farm home 6 miles north of Randolph. Mrs. Swanson had been in failing health for five years, yet fought a brave battle against the ravages of Bright's Disease. She took to her bed last Thanksgiving and was in a Sioux City hospital from a few days before Christmas until four weeks before her death. All that medical skill could do was employed to bring her back to health. Rosella was born February 11, 1900, at Atlantic, Iowa and lived there until 1915 when she moved to Randolph. She attended our public high school, and was, for the four years preceeding her marriage, an operator in the local telephone exchange. She was married on Sept. 5, 1918, to Bert Swanson, and they began housekeeping on the farm which was home until her untimely death. Mrs. Swanson was an excellent mother, loved her family, and did her full part in the home. Deceased leaves her husband and two sons: Bert Jr., 10 and Keith, 8. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Bertha Trede of Sioux City, and five sisters and one brother, as follows: Mrs Marie Marsh of Magnet; Mrs. Ferne Hooper of Wessington Springs, S.D.; Mrs. Stella Stahl of Auburn, New York; Mrs. Myrtle Olson of Fremont; Evelyn and Carl of Sioux City. She was a member of the Reformed Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Independence, Mo., and Reverend Harold Smith of Sioux City, a pastor of that church, conducted the funeral service from the Methodist Church of this city this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Burial was made in the Randolph Cemetery.
