According to the book "An Illustrated History of Stevens, Ferry, Okanogan and Chelan Counties" Vol. 2, 1904 pg. 591, Francis and Sarah J Wilks (Stanford) moved to the farm of their daughter and son-in-law Sarah J and Joseph Hall near Colfax, Washington in 1872. Sarah Wilks died in 1874 and Francis in 1878. Mr. Ed Garretson, Archivist at the Whitman County Historical Society, kindly supplied us with the location of the Hall Ranch. It was located just East of Colfax in Sections 13 and 24, Township 16, Range 43 and consisted of 160 acres.

Francis' wife, Sarah, was the first person buried in Colfax cemetery according to records found by Kerry Moser at Bruning's Funeral Home in Colfax.
