DENMARK, Feb. 16 - Thomas Mayfield Tant, 64, died Wednesday afternoon at his home following an extended illness.
Mr. Tant, a lifelong resident of Denmark, was a son of the late Hardy V. and Elizabeth Darnell Tant, both of Bamberg County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church here.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Azilee Zorn Tant; one son, T. Wesley Tant of Orangeburg; two daughters, Mrs. George R. Smeltzer of Greensboro, N. C., and Mrs. Francis E. Purvis of Denmark; three sisters, Mrs. Carriebell Smoak of Denmark, Mrs. B. Hightower of Bamberg and Mrs. Wade Johnson of Fountain City, Tenn.; three brothers, J. E. Tant of Cayce, J. S. Tant and H. M. Tant, both of Denmark, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. Friday at the First Baptist Church here, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. B. C. Tschudy, assisted by the Rev. James McLane and the Rev. B. S. Drennan. Interment will be in Denmark Cemetery. Friends may call at Hightower Funeral Home until the hour of services.
Active pallbearers will be: Louie Tant, Harvey Hightower, Jake Way, Marion Still, Edward Gibson and Jerry Zorn.
