Maurine Cook, 95, died July 28, 2004 in St. George, Utah from causes incident to age. She was born June 23, 1909 in Richfield, Utah to Hans Curtis Jensen and Clara Harriett Hansen. She grew up in Sevier County and attended local schools. The family moved to Provo when she was a teenager and she graduated from Provo High School. She went to work for a local telephone company as a supervisor. She married William D. Cook, December 22, 1928. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Oakland Temple. She lived in Bingham and Salt Lake City, Utah, and Eugene, Oregon. After the passing of her husband she moved to Fairview and Salina, Utah, and Page, Arizona. She took great pride in graduating from the Institute of Religion at the University of Oregon in her 60s. She was a world traveler and made many new friends. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions in the Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society. Maurine and Bill loved collecting rocks and minerals, participating in volunteer fire department activities, and raising their daughters and their grandson, Rick.
Maurine is survived by her two daughters Donna Lee Christensen and Kay Lou Wheeler, seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Holt and Ida Lee Anderson. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents and her sisters Alice Kirkham, and Alta Lindquist.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at the Metcalf Mortuary, 300 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah at 10:00 a.m. Viewing will be from 9:00-9:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Fairview City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.
