Enlisted in Co C, 10th SC Infantry, CSA (Lake Swamp Volunteers 1861-1865). Died of disease in Georgetown, SC during the war. He was brought back close to home for burial since G'town is not so far away. He would have been about 42 when he died & is believed to be buried here.
According to Jerry Barnhill there use to be a couple of wood markers here that are now gone. This is a small cemetery with only 1 stone located on Joyner Swamp Rd near where it intersects with Walter's Rd, Aynor area (near the shoulder of the road). The single stone is for his son, John M. Barnhill (linked to this memorial).
