Gimer Grant
Gilmer Grant, 76, of Paul Paybe Rd., Stony Point, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Gordon Hospice Hospice House in Statesville.
He was born in Alexander County, on August 30, 1931, the son of the late Harold Grant and Nora Stewart Grant Willey. He was retired from Champion Paper Company and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Maybelle Shook Grant; three brothers, Dallas Grant, Clifford Grant and Ransom Grant and a sister, Mary Grant Shook.
Survivors include a brother, Willard Grant and wife, Diane of Florence, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Betty Grant of Conover; three nephews and three nieces, special friends at Chapman's Garage; and his dog, "Boss".
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 22, 2006, at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel in Stony Point with Rev. Allen Mullins officiating. Burial followed in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Johnny Chapman Sr., Johnny Chapman Jr., Shannon Chapman, Chris Chapman, Tommy Chapman and Stacy Strikeleather.
