He was born December 28, 1915 in Burlington, VT, a son of the late Peter and Rose (DuPont) Allard. Donald was employed at Hamilton Standard for 35 years until his retirement in 1973. He was an avid reader, an old movie buff and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Including Doris his wife of 65 years, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Beverly Merrifield of Wethersfield and Bonnie and Jerry Allen of Broad Brook; a sister, Gladys (Maynard) Landry of Grand Isle, VT; a sister-in-law, Florence Oudette of Deltona, FL; three grandchildren, Douglas A. Merrifield and his wife Kim, Paige B. Merrifield and Todd A. Riley; and two great grandchildren who brought him great joy in the last few years of his life, Julia Grace Merrifield and John Joseph Merrifield. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters.
A funeral procession will leave TODAY, April 30, 2002, 9:30 a.m. from Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations in Donald's memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 56 Hartford Avenue, Wethersfield, CT 06109.
