Obituary: Adair County News, October 4, 1944 - Charlie S. Winfrey, 63, a native of Columbia, died early in September in a Dallas, Texas, hospital. Winfrey was a son of the late Thomas and Jennie Saufley Winfrey and lived here until he was 19 years old. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and World War I and belonged to the Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife and two brothers, William O. Winfrey, Dallas, and George B. Winfrey, Los Angeles, California. (Mr. Winfrey's father was better known as Maj. T.C. Winfrey of Civil War fame.)
