He was born to the late Paul Jackson, Sr. and Velmalene Stevens Leake , who survives, on August 28, 1954 in Winston-Salem, NC.
Jackie graduated from South Stokes High School in 1972 and was the owner of Leake Racing Engines, renowned as the builder of the fastest engines in go-kart racing circles. Jackie professed his belief in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on July 31, 2012 and received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism.
Survivors in addition to his mother include sons Jason and Joseph (Kim) of King, and Stephen (Candace) of Pinnacle; sister, Rev. Jennie Leake Hemrick of Danbury; brothers Mark (Robin) of Pilot Mountain and Clark of Winston Salem. Three grandchildren Joseph II, Madyson, Riley, Justin and a much anticipated gift from God due to arrive in March; a special niece, Clara-Marie Hemrick, nephew Daniel Leake and step-niece Merritt Tuttle, step-nephews Walt and Spence Tuttle. Special aunt, Susan (Frank) Wright and uncle Barry (Barbara) Stevens. Jack's extended family was large and far reaching through the racing community.
The family will receive friends at Burrough's Funeral Home on Monday, August 27 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
The Celebration of Jackie's life will be on his 58th birthday, Tuesday, August 28 at 11:00 AM.
Floral tributes will be accepted or memorials may be sent to Danbury Community Church, P.O. Box 97, Danbury, NC or to The Mother's Day Offering Fund at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Medical Center Blvd., Winston Salem, NC in memory of Paul Leake.
