Elmo was born on October 1, 1925 to Jerry and Annie Best in Duncan, Oklahoma.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held the following day, Friday, August 31, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will immediately follow the service at Hogeye Cemetery in Celeste.

Elmo Hershell Best, 86 passed away on Monday, August 27, 2012 in Greenville, Texas.
Elmo was born on October 1, 1925 to Jerry and Annie best in Duncan, Oklahoma. Elmo married Lorraine, his wife of thirty-on years in January, 1979.

Elmo served his country in the United States Army, then continued his career as a plumber. He worked for over 50 years in this profession. Elmo worked at various times for B C Plumbers, Milton B. Levy and retiring from United Plumbing. Elmo loved the outdoors. He loved being out feeding and raising his animals, mending fences, mowing his fields or just walking the land God had given him. Elmo loved his family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren. But Elmo's true passion was for the ministry. Elmo served for over 50 years in the pulpits of the Pentecostal Church of God in both Oklahoma and Texas. His last pastorate was the Eastside Pentecostal Church of God in Greenville, Texas where he served for ten years. Elmo spent much of his time reading God's Word, praying and serving others. His love for his Lord and Savior was evident in his every action of every day. His loving and giving spirit will truly be missed.

Brother Elmo is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Annie; Siblings, 4 sisters and 2 brothers; and Lorraine, his wife of 31 years.

Those left to celebrate his life include his daughters, Delilah Dietz and Eileen Arterberry; Six stepchildren, Kaye, Anita, Joyce, Renita, Larry, and Bobby; son-in-law, Dale Arterberry; grandchildren, David E. Simms, Amy Spraggins, Heath Tywater, Brittany Cenkus Clayton Dietz; great-grandchildren, Kevin Lynn, Jr., Jordan Allan, Haley Michelle, Brooke Nicole, Delanie Paige, Bailey Denae, Zachary Chase, Shyla Mae, and Landon Heath; numerous nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
