Robert Gavan Marlatt, 61, died unexpectedly Monday morning [Dec. 11, 1972] apparently of a heart attack in his Lafayette home. A native of Tippecanoe County, he was married in 1940 to Pearl Lane, who survives.
Mr. Marlatt, who was a barber in the Lafayette area over 40 years, owned Marlatt's Barber Shop at Five Points for the last 20 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran, and a member of American Legion Post 11 and Eagles Lodge.
Surviving with his widow are a daughter, Beverly (Mrs. John) Kiser of Lafayette; a sister, Mrs. Melvin Davis of Bitter Creek, OH; and two grandchildren.

Gravesite Details
The birth year on his grave marker appears to be in error... both his Indiana Birth and Death Certificates state his birth year as 1911.
