Son of Spencer & Phoebe {Lebow} Bassett; He married Emily Catherine Bragg on November 30, 1847. They had 7 known children, per Federal census records 1850, 1860, & 1870. A bond was filed early in 1878 in Grainger County for the estate of W. B. Bassett. J. E. Mullens, W. H. Bassett & J. B. Jones were appointed executors. Emily is listed as a widow on the 1880 Federal Census.
