Karen Ann Littleghost, "Wakinya Maza Wi" (Iron Lightning Woman) was born into life on October 19, 1976 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake and born into eternity on March 21, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake.

The Wake for Karen will be held at St. Michael Recreation Center on Friday, March 30th beginning at 5:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service also at St. Michael's Recreation Center on Saturday March 31st at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Native American Church Cemetery rural St. Michael. Officiating will be Zachery Thompson.

Music: All drum groups and Sundance Singers welcome

Karen Littleghost, Wakinya Maza Wi, was welcomed into this world to the proud parents of Gloria Alberts and Lawrence Littleghost Sr. She was born at Mercy Hospital in Devil's Lake.

She attended Four Winds Community School, Fort Totten and Crow Creek Indian School in South Dakota. She graduated from Four Winds in 1996. She later went on to attend United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck.

Karen worked at the Spirit Lake Casino, Dakota Tribal Industries, Varsity Bags and Good Samaritan.

She was united in marriage to Shane Patterson Sr. and they had two children, Shane Jr. and Wichoni. They divorced and she later met her special friend Robert Herman Jr. and they had one daughter, Laurice Herman.

Karen liked to play bingo and spend time with her children and family. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out. Karen was a very loving mother, sister, daughter, niece, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed.
