Jewell Standifer (also affectionately) known as "Nana" passed away at Spark's Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas on August 9, 2012. She was born September 3, 1920 in Farris, Oklahoma. In the early-mid 1960's she, Jim and three of her sons: Merl, Foster and Bruce moved back to Southeast Oklahoma from California.The other three of her childen: George, Estella and Wynona, had married and started families of their own. Jewell and Jim continued to make a loving home where their family would grow, learn to love, and flourish. She and Jim both retired from Talhina Veteran's Center in the early 1980's.She was no stranger to hard work and tgribulations but always overcame and triumphed. She had more love to give than anyone and always opened her arms and house to friends and family. She loved to laugh and she loved family. She also had a michievous side. Shge was full of life,love, wisdom and amazing memories to share. She and Jim had a lasting love. Her final months were spent longing for her husband and going "Home". God got his angel back. Oh what a celebration she is having now. Mom, Grandma and friend to all; enemy to none. We will miss you Nana and ee youo when we get "home". She leaves behing three siblings: Floy of Atoka,Oklahoma, Dub of Antler, Oklahoma and L. D. of Texas; three sons, Bruce of Fort Smith, Arkansas, George of Talihina, Foster of Talihina, countless cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, husband, two daughters, one son and three brothers. Arrangements under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
