He was born to Tom and Charlotte Best on July 7, 1907, in Dover, Kan. He and Berniece Cooper married in Topeka, Kan, in 1935. Two years later, they moved to Hood River where he was a fruit orchardist until he retired in 1975. He was a member of the Hood River Art Club and the Hood River Agate Club as well as a board member of the senior center and Hood River Supply. He was also activity in the Boy Scouts.
Survivors include his wife, Berniece, his son, Glenn of Hood River; his daughter, Shirley Merritt of Omaha, Neb, three brothers, Willis of Kansas City, Kan, Herman of LaPine, Russell of Hood River, two sisters, Ethel Pollock of Portland, and Lois Sauer of Bellevue, Wash; three grandchildren and one great grandson.
Services were held June 5 with Rev. Lawrence May officiating.
