After high school, Mildred worked for the Telephone Company before marrying Leland Frederick in September, 1927. The family moved many times with the military-OH, NJ, IL. In June, 1946, Mildred moved from Columbus, OH, to Tucson, AZ. Her husband, Col Leland Frederick, had just retired from the US Army. Their three children were teenagers. In addition, she always gave time to those in need-visiting the migrants in Marana, quilting and sewing for the poor, preparing food for the needy and performing charity work. Mildred was encouraged by a friend to start giving bridge lessons. In the 1950's, she started the Mildred L. Frederick Bridge Club from her home. In the 1970's, Mildred became a Life Master in Bridge and was recognized as one of Arizona's leading bridge players. At age 100 ABCL honored Mildred as a Golden Age Master. Mildred is survived by two sons, Robert Frederick of Germantown, MD and Richard Frederick of Fountain Hills, AZ; one daughter, Sue F.
