Darlene was born on September 8, 1929 in Hope, ND to Ernest and Alvina (Stienke) Kirkpatrick. She was married Orlean Braaten.
In addition to helping on the farm, Darlene worked at Hormel for over 30 years. She also owned and operated the B&E Restaurant for 10 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Judith Kaye.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: David & Cathy Braaten, Dexter, MN; Dean & Mary Beth Braaten, Grand Meadow, MN; daughter: Jane Braaten Barnes, Houston, TX; grandchildren: Angie, Amy, Jessica, Adam, Seth, Luke, and Noah; great grandchildren: Brody, Gavin, and Paisley; brother: LeRoy Kirkpatrick, Dexter, MN; sister: LaVon Monnier, Rochester, MN, nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Reverend Kristi Koppel officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday for one hour before the service. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
