He married Helen in 1932 in St. Joseph County, Indiana.

They had two sons together-
Thomas Carl Leyes, 1932 – 1983 (three daughters)
John Frederick Leyes, Sr., 1944 - 2020 (2 children)

Alfred was a "machinest" in a US Directory.

"Obituary: The South Bend (IN) Tribune, page 24, Monday, 24 December 1956. Born in St Clements Ontario and came here in 1904. He married Helen Kellner on April 23, 1932 in South Bend, Indiana."
