Richard A. Gibson services will be held today for crop duster
Services for Richard A. Gibson, 38, a Whitehaven pilot who was killed about 6:30 pm Friday, while preparing to dust a field near Hernando, Mississippi will be at 4pm today at Memphis funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. An employee of Auro-farm service of Hernando, Mr. Gibson was killed when the engine of his Piper Cub apparently stalled and the plane crashed and burned. W.P. Wallace, the farmer who had hired the crop dusting service, said Mr. Gibson was preparing to spray the field after making a preliminary pass. He said the plane was about 20-30 feet above the ground when the engine stalled. He leaves his wife, Ms. Melva Gibson, 2 sons, Ronnie Gibson, age 9, and Donnie Gibson, age 4, a daughter Linda Gibson, age 7, 3 sisters, Ms. Clara Mullins of Picayune, Mississippi, Ms. Otis Mullins of Whitehaven, and Ms. Mary Dixon of Huntsville, Alabama, 2 brothers, Fred Gibson of Southaven and Edward Gibson, of Whitehaven, And his parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Gibson of Memphis.
