Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Melvin Claude Bird, age 73, returned home to his Heavenly Father on November 13, 2004.

Born October 16, 1931 in Bluebell, Utah, to Clarence Oran and Lydia Lisonbee Bird. He married his sweetheart, Ola DeVon Maxfield, June 19, 1954 in Altonah, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 26, 1978. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. He loved to play his harmonica and sing around the campfire, fix old cars and drive them in parades. He was a very kind and loving man and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Ola; sons, Lonnie (Nancy), Rick (Laura); daughters, Wanda (Stephen) Handy, Teresa (Mike) Wickham; three grandsons and three granddaughters.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at University Hospital for their kindness, care and support.

Funeral services will be Wed., Nov. 17, at 12:00 noon at Western Hills 2nd Ward, 5380 W. 5400 S. A viewing will be from 10-11:45 a.m. at the church. Services under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
