Only a week short of her 83rd birthday, Lorean Elizabeth Rathbun died some time Saturday evening, July 21, while sitting in the living room of her cottage at 400 NW Knights Bridge road.
Interment in her former hometown of Louisville, Neb., was planned to follow Tuesday morning services in the Canby chapel of Everhart & Kent Funeral home. The Rev. George Boner of Canby United Methodist church oficiated at Canby services. Her husband, Charles Rathbun, a carpenter who died in 1930, is buried in the Louisville cemetery.
Mrs. Rathbun had come to Oregon nearly 30 years ago from Nebraska, living in Canby and in Portland. She worked for Doernbecher Manufacturing Co., in Portland, during World War II, and for 13 years lived with the Kenneth McNamees to care for her daughter, Maxine McNamee, until her death in September 1966. She had her own cottage in the yard of her son, William, since the spring of 1967.
Mrs. Rathbun was born in Cheyenne, Wyo., July 28, 1890, to Wilhelm and Anna Guthman Krecklow. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge in Louisville, Neb., where she had lived after her marriage.
